Calgary has the lowest share of renter households among Canada's largest cities, with about 31% of dwellings being rented. Despite this, Calgary saw the largest percentage increase in renters between 2016 and 2021. Montreal has the highest share of renters at over 63%, while Toronto follows with about 48% of households being renters.
